The annual Snell Manufacturers’ Meeting will take place the Friday before the opening of the Indianapolis Powersports Expo, February 17, 2006, at 9:00 AM in the State Room at the Indianapolis downtown Westin Hotel.

There will be a simple breakfast buffet set up outside the room at about 8:30 AM.

Snell board members Dr. Harold A. Fenner, Dr. Daniel J. Thomas and Mr. William H. Muzzy will attend and Snell staff members Mr. Stephen Johnson, Mr. Randy McCarty and I myself, Ed Becker.

Informal Agenda

Items for discussion will likely include:

    • CM2006 - The Snell Children’s Motorsports Helmet Standard

    • Progress towards a study of neck strength in children.

    • FIA-8860 - The Advanced Helmet Specification (Super Helmet Standard)

    • FIA-8858 - The HANS® performance requirements

    • The MCoW/Snell HIC Meeting, May, 2005

    • A rough cut of a new Snell motorcycle helmet video.

As always, attendees are encouraged to contribute and to introduce items of interest.

All Snell Certified Companies are encouraged to send people to this meeting. Please advise how many will be attending. Since these meetings are well attended

though, others must please contact this office and request a specific invitation. I regret the necessity.

The meeting is expected to break up some time before noon, however, Dr. Fenner and Mr. Muzzy are expected to remain available through Saturday and look forward to meeting and talking with manufacturer representatives. Dr. Thomas must leave the area Friday evening but will be available after the meeting as well. Steve, Randy and I will be available all weekend.

Attendance is encouraged but is by no means required. These meetings offer a chance to share ideas and consider issues but, as soon as possible afterwards, I will send out a write up of the topics discussed along with any presentations to all certified manufacturers.
